Short Term Parking at Albany Airport

Meeting a flight, helping someone into the terminal or flying away for a short stay? Choose the parking arrangement that matches your visit.

Choose the right parking for a short visit or a short trip

“Short term” can mean two different things at Albany. A driver meeting an arriving passenger may need a space for less than an hour. Someone flying away for one night needs overnight parking and a reliable return arrangement. The best choice depends on the time at the airport, whether you need to enter the terminal and whether a shuttle fits the journey.

For a brief terminal visit, official short-term parking places the emphasis on convenience. For a one- or two-day trip, compare the full stay price of the official facilities with the current private parking quote. A low daily rate is useful only when the operator's opening and shuttle hours work for both flights. Add any taxes and charges before comparing totals, and check whether part-days are charged as full parking days.

Official ALB short-term rates and location

The airport locates Short Term spaces on the first level of the North Garage and in signed areas alongside and behind it; the garage-rate spaces occupy the upper floors. Its current rates page lists the first hour free, followed by $2 per hour, with a $24 daily maximum. Some older airport map material still quotes a shorter free period; use the current rate page and the entrance tariff as the practical reference.

A private-lot parking reservation is valid at the facility named on its confirmation. For airport Short Term spaces, follow the signed airport entrance and its payment instructions. Check your parking address before leaving home.

Meeting a passenger

Ask the passenger to message after collecting baggage. An aircraft landing notification does not mean the person is ready at the curb; taxiing, disembarkation and baggage collection come first. If you can wait in the car, use the signed waiting area. If you want to greet the passenger inside or provide assistance, park in a suitable lot and walk in.

Travel update checked 22 October 2026: the ordinary cellphone lot is undergoing expansion, with the airport directing drivers to a temporary area at Heritage Lane and Albany Shaker Road. Work is expected to continue into early November; check live airport notices on the day.

The terminal curb remains an active pickup and drop-off area, not a waiting space. Drivers should remain ready to move and follow the instructions of traffic staff.

Dropping someone off

Have baggage organized before reaching the terminal. Confirm the airline and allow enough time to unload safely. If the passenger needs help beyond the entrance, plan to park rather than leave the car unattended at the curb. Accessible travel may require a pre-arranged airline assistance service; parking and assistance should be coordinated before the day of departure.

A brief goodbye can become a longer visit if a flight is disrupted or check-in takes longer than expected. Keep the parking ticket or payment card accessible and know when the next tariff period begins. If several people are travelling together, agree who will manage the luggage and who will handle parking payment.

An overnight or weekend trip

For travel lasting a full day or more, calculate the entire parking window from arrival at the lot until the expected return to the car. Include transfer time and a sensible allowance after landing. If a flight arrives just before midnight, the car may not leave the lot until the following date. Confirm the provider's billing and extension rules rather than assuming a calendar-day price.

Review the private lot's shuttle operating hours, arrival procedure, cancellation terms and maximum vehicle size. A short-trip bargain should not require an unplanned taxi or a long wait on the return. If you need maximum flexibility, compare a covered or terminal-adjacent official option with a private shuttle facility and decide whether price or the transfer arrangement matters more.

Short-term parking checklist

  • Decide whether you are visiting the terminal or flying away.
  • Check the actual lot entrance and permitted vehicle size.
  • Compare the complete charge for the planned parking period.
  • Allow time for any shuttle before the terminal-arrival target.
  • Keep the return instructions, ticket and payment method available.
  • Recheck airport construction notices and the supplier's operating hours.

Short-term parking questions

Does a private parking reservation cover the airport Short Term lot?

No. The airport's own parking areas and a privately booked off-airport facility use different entrances and payment arrangements. Follow the address and product shown on the reservation.

Should I book parking for a one-night trip?

Compare the complete price and transfer arrangement for your actual arrival and collection times. For a short stay, the shuttle wait and return procedure may matter as much as the advertised daily rate.

Can I wait at the terminal curb?

The curb is for active pickup and drop-off. Wait in an authorized parking or waiting area until the passenger is ready, or park and go inside to meet them.
