Valet Parking at Albany Airport

Understand the difference between valet, terminal meet-and-greet and self parking before choosing how to leave your car at ALB.

Current booking choices: Albany Airport Inn, Baymont Albany Airport and Hampton Inn Albany Wolf Road are all advertised as self parking. A valet service is not included in these parking products.

How Albany airport valet parking works

Valet parking means handing the vehicle to an attendant who parks it for you. The word does not, by itself, describe the airport transfer. A valet product at a private facility can still require passengers to board a shuttle, while a terminal meet-and-greet product would involve a different handover arrangement. Read the exact product description before choosing it and never assume a terminal-curb meeting unless the confirmed booking explicitly provides one.

The airport's own published parking categories are short term, two garages, long term and economy. Private valet products have their own parking locations, handover instructions and shuttle arrangements. The current On Air Parking listing determines which private valet products are available for your dates; use its terms and instructions for the final decision.

What to check before booking

Confirm the handover address, check-in desk or booth, opening hours, shuttle frequency and return pickup method. Ask whether the car stays on the booked property or may be moved to another storage area. Check whether parking is covered or outdoors, and whether any covered-parking description applies to the entire stay. A covered entrance is not the same as covered storage.

Vehicle restrictions matter. Check height, length and width rules for large SUVs, vans, roof boxes, trailers and special-purpose vehicles. If a car has an unusual starting sequence, alarm, immobilizer or electronic parking brake, write a short instruction for the attendant. For an electric vehicle, confirm whether charging is actually included, what connector is needed and whether a charge level is promised; do not assume that valet service includes charging.

Preparing the car and keys

Take valuables, travel documents, medicines and any item needed during the trip out of the vehicle before handover. Separate the car key from house keys and other unnecessary keys. Check that the attendant can lock and start the car using the key supplied. Make a simple record of the vehicle's visible condition and keep the claim ticket or digital receipt.

Agree how the operator will contact you if it needs to move the car or discuss a problem. If another person may collect the vehicle, ask about the identification and authorisation required. These details are easier to resolve before departure than after a delayed return flight.

Allowing time for the terminal transfer

Plan separately for check-in, unloading, shuttle wait and the drive to the airport. A stated transfer time normally describes only part of the process. Be especially careful with very early departures and late arrivals: a facility can accept cars around the clock while operating a shuttle on a more limited timetable.

For a family, ask whether everyone and the luggage can travel together and what child-seat rules apply. Travelers using a wheelchair should verify the actual shuttle's accessibility and any assistance available at the parking facility. For bulky luggage, a bicycle box or sports equipment, confirm capacity in advance.

Returning to the valet facility

Follow the collection instructions on the confirmation. Some operators want a call after baggage collection, while others use a scheduled shuttle or a designated meeting point. Give the driver or desk the correct reservation name and number, then follow current terminal signs to the agreed pickup area. Construction may change the final route.

Before driving away, check that the returned vehicle and keys are correct and that personal belongings are accounted for. Report an observed problem immediately through the operator's procedure. If the flight was delayed, review the extra-parking charge and retain the final receipt.

Is valet right for your trip?

Valet can reduce the effort of finding a space and carrying bags across a lot, but the total travel time depends on the handover and transfer arrangement. Compare it with self-parking, garage parking and hotel parking using the factors that matter to your party: covered storage, retained keys, accessible transport, operating hours and total price. Select the exact available Albany product rather than treating all valet offers as interchangeable.
